CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City will soon have three additional courts after Congress recently approved House Bill 5737 of Cebu 6th district Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing.
House Bill 5737 is titled “An Act Creating Three Additional Branches of the Regional Trial Court to be Stationed in the City of Mandaue, Province Of Cebu, Amending for the Purpose Section 14, Paragraph (H) of Batas Pambansa Bilang 129, as Amended, otherwise known as ‘The Judiciary Reorganization Act of 1980,’ and Appropriating Funds Therefore”.
Quisumbing said that the approved measure will be transmitted to the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights and he is hopeful that it will be approved within this session.
“I am very pleased with the approval of this measure. I believe that the creation of additional courts is necessary for the effective delivery of justice, imperative for keeping law and order in our society,” Quisumbing said.
It was Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who filed Senate Bill No. 3107, and Senate Committee on Justice Chairman Francis Joseph “Chiz” Escudero who filed Senate Bill No. 3034, as counterpart measures for the creation of additional RTCs in Mandaue City. —(FREEMAN)
