Burglars cart store earnings

CEBU, Philippines - Unidentified burglars barged inside a sari-sari store and stole over P10,000 cash in Barangay Kaongkod, Madridejos last Friday morning.

Police identified the owner of the sari-sari store as Rhena Sulla, 26.

PO2 Carlo Mondejar of Madridejos Police Station in the Island of Bantayan said the burglary took place while Sulla and her family were sleeping.

The cash, which was earned by the family from their sari-sari store business, was found to have been missing at around 5 am when the family woke up and discovered the backdoor’s lock destroyed.

Police believe that the thieves carried out the burglary between 2 to 3 am.

Ocular investigation showed that the burglars destroyed the barbed wire fence to enter the compound.

The robbers then destroyed the lock of the door at the back portion of the house and once inside, destroyed another door leading to the sari-sari store.

Apparently not finding the money at the store’s drawer, the robbers proceeded to the victim’s room where they found the money estimated to be about P10,000.

The victim said the money was their day’s income from their sari-sari store business.

Police are still facing a blank wall as to the identity of the burglars as there are no witnesses and even the family did not notice somebody sneaking inside their house.  (FREEMAN)
