- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - The Toledo City police now have five witnesses who are willing to testify in the killing of a business proprietor 1ast Tuesday evening in Sitio Das, Barangay Don Andres Soriano.

Supt. Julian Entoma, Toledo City police chief, said that five witnesses were able to describe the gunman who killed Maria Belen Santillan, 59. However, the witnesses failed to determine the driver of the getaway motorcycle.

Entoma said the witnesses could not remember the driver but remembers the gunman well. He added that a cartographic sketch would no longer be needed if the investigation will prosper.

The police identified the assailants as local boys, meaning from Toledo City.

The police chief admitted that the gunman had previous records and was involved in the illegal drugs trade.

Santillan was on her way home about 7:00 p.m. from a business establishment she owns, the Santillan Enterprises, just across the road to her house when she was shot twice in the chest. She was declared dead on arrival at the Carmen Copper Corporation hospital.

Further investigation revealed that she possibly had more or less P1 million cash inside her shoulder bag which the robbers rook. Her family was supposed to buy a parcel of land worth P700,000 this weekend.

Aside from owning the store for construction materials, they also encash checks.

Robbers were onboard a black Honda Wave motorcycle with no plate number. They sped off towards Barangay Cantabaco.  (FREEMAN)
