CEBU, Philippines - A lending company will file criminal charges against a municipal councilor of Barili town for allegedly threatening their branch supervisor for no apparent reason last February 23.
Felix Guilliano, 49, of Toledo City and a supervisor of the MJohn Lending Company in Barangay Luray I, Toledo City, was surprised when the councilor appeared and allegedly threatened him.
The FREEMAN is withholding the name of the municipal councilor pending his statement regarding the incident.
Sr. Insp. Marlon Gumabao, Barili police chief, said Guilliano immediately went to the police station shortly before noon and said that he was in Barangay Poblacion when he was allegedly threatened by the municipal councilor.
Guilliano alleged that he was with his companion and was talking to a certain Lelia Recla, a vendor, when the municipal councilor arrived.
The public official allegedly pointed a knife to his face and said, “Kita ka ani? Hait kaayo ni. (Do you see this? This very sharp)”
Guilliano said the official suddenly punched his side and then pulled out a caliber .45 pistol from his waist bag and deliberately showed it to him before fleeing on foot.
Gumabao said that after Guilliano informed their manager at their main office in Cebu City, they then decided to file a criminal case against the suspect.
Upon investigation, the police remain clueless on the motive of the official since both were reportedly strangers to each other.
“Walang motive basta bigla lang nag-threat wa man pud nagpa-settle ang victim kay mo-file gyud sila og kaso, (There is no motive, the municipal councilor just suddenly threatened the victim who refused to settle because they are bent on filing a case.),” he said. (FREEMAN)
