DOLE-7 urges jobseekers to try online job fairs

- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) advised jobseekers to register early at the www.phil-job.net website for immediate access 24-hours a day, 7 days a week for their dream jobs.

DOLE Regional Director Atty. Ma. Gloria Tango said that job offers are now available everyday with companies seeking jobseekers who suit their qualifications.

In today’s computer age, Tango said that information plays a crucial role.

“It saves the company advertising cost and provides them a speedy screening, recruitment and placement of jobseekers and would-be jobseekers,” she said.

Tango explained that if a jobseeker fails to recognize this opportunity and does not join immediately, he or she can say goodbye to job vacancies present there.

“Jobseekers, both graduates and graduating students, should not sit back and just wait for the job offers. They need to be proactive and innovative in their approach and strategize their job hunting techniques. If you want a job badly, seek and you will find it in our PhilJobnet website for it is just a click away and takes only seconds to join,” Tango said.

She said that aside from actual job fairs organized for job matching and placement; jobseekers may also try the online jobs fair at the DOLE PhilJobnet where the jobs fair is ongoing 24/7.

Tango added that it is better for jobseekers to take all chances by joining both actual and online job fairs to drop job-hunting and join the world of work.

Meanwhile, the agency advised students and jobseekers to be vigilant against illegal recruiters and placement agencies offering fake or bogus job offers.

“We encourage new graduates—future workforce members—to be alert and wary against unscrupulous individuals or groups engaged in illegal and predatory employment operations. They themselves should become their own lookout during their job hunting to avoid falling victims,” DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said in her statement.

Baldoz issued the warning even as she encouraged students and jobseekers to visit or contact the DOLE’s regional and field offices in their areas to check the list of licensed private recruitment and placement agencies (PRPAs) and their authorized branch offices and representatives before applying for a job. — (FREEMAN)
