Man worried of son, kills self in Argao
CEBU, Philippines - Worried about the safety of his son who works as coal miner in Argao town, a 56-year-old farmer ended his life with a nylon rope.
Cesario Bajenting of sitio Tan-awan, Barangay Cansuje in the said municipality was found dead hanging inside his house Wednesday morning. His daughter, Rosalie, told the police that her father was worried about the safety of her brother Videl who is working at a coal mine in Barangay Balaas.
According to Rosalie, her father’s depression started after the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu and Negros two weeks ago. Since then, Cesario had been worried that a strong earthquake may bury his son alive in the mining tunnel.
Police Officer 2 Jacky Lou Branzuela said Cesario was found dead by 13-year-old Jeven Duran who went to ask malunggay leaves Wednesday morning.
Duran discovered the body when he allegedly went to the house of the victim to ask for malunggay leaves last Wednesday. (FREEMAN)
