Burglars strike in Madridejos

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A distributor of softdrinks lost more than P200,000 after the warehouse where their money was placed was burglarized last Tuesday morning in Barangay Mansilang, Madridejos.

The total amount of P202,784 was remittances from their sales agents and from the proceeds of the poultry farm owned by the AC Farm or Alex Chiong Farm.

The AC Farm is the softdrinks distributor in Bantayan island.

The police are still clueless on the identity of the culprits.

They recovered a piece of wood which the burglars could have used in breaking the ceiling’s wall.

Investigators are not discounting the possibility of an inside job.

PO1 George Catarja said that it was Ernie Loyao who discovered the loss early morning when he was about to open the warehouse.

Catarja said that the table and other items stuffs were in disarray. The drawer where the cash was kept was already open.

Sr. Insp. Jaime Santillan, Madridejos police chief, said burglars entered the warehouse through the iron grills of the window at the back portion of the establishment.

The burglars then destroyed the wooden ceiling.

The burglars then left through the main door. — (FREEMAN)
