CEBU, Philippines - Six towns in Cebu will soon have new chiefs of police because of a minor revamp that the Cebu Provincial Police Office is implementing starting next week.
CPPO director Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador said the towns of Alegria, Pinamungajan, Minglanilla, Medellin, Balamban and Cordova will be affected by it because some of the officers in these towns are either retiring or schooling.
Comendador said, a minor revamp has to be implemented to ensure compliance of the requirement from Camp Crame and the National Police Commission that a town police chief should at least hold the rank of inspector.
Comendador refused to give further details about it saying he is still waiting for the mayors of the towns affected to choose their chief of police from among the names of qualified officials submitted to them.
Comendador however said that former Toledo City police chief Timar Alam will replace Minglanilla police chief Laurel Almirante who will be transferred to Medellin. Almirante will replace Inspector Juan Singson who is facing an administrative investigation for grave misconduct after he released a drug suspect.
Singson will be reassigned to the provincial headquarters pending investigation of his case. Alegria will have a new police chief because Sr. Inspector Daniel Comision is retiring next month while Pinamungajan police chief Leo Logronio will be on a study leave. Comendador said he is still working out for their replacements. (FREEMAN)
