6th witness testifies for Dumpit
CEBU, Philippines - The teenager SPO1 Adonis Dumpit allegedly gunned down in December 2004 was an “armed robber.”
This was according to Kimberly Corro, the sixth witness of the defense who was presented yesterday before Judge Ester Veloso of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 6.
Corro said that while she was on board a jeepney, Ronron Go snatched her necklace. She added that Ronron failed to take it in his first attempt as she resisted and struggled to keep it from his grasp.
But Ronron pulled out a gun and pointed it at her, warning he will fire if she insists on holding on to her bracelet. Because of fear, Corro said, she gave the piece of jewelry to Ronron.
She said Ronron also took the necklace of her companion, Princess. Not contended, Ronron allegedly asked for their money but Corro said they did not have any.
Corro added that before Ronron and his companion disembarked from the jeepney, Ronron warned her not to say anything to her parents or else she will be killed.
“I was shocked and fainted when I went home. I told my mother about the incident. Thereafter, we reported the incident to the Waterfront Police Station and described the robber,” she said.
Corro claimed she never knew the name of Ronron when they reported the robbery to the police station. She said they accompanied the police during a follow-up operation on December 14, 2004. However, she said, the police failed to locate Ronron.
Corro said that when they went home to Villagonzalo II, they saw Dumpit who was their neighbor. She said they asked for Dumpit’s help.
She said Dumpit showed her a photocopy of an ID picture and she saw it was the man who robbed her. She said it was at that time when she knew the name of Ronron.
Corro said that after she identified the picture, her mother told her to relax as she was trembling. Her mother then told her that they will go to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) as Ronron was there.
She said at the hospital, she identified the body again as the same person who robbed her.
Janeth Badana, the mother of Ronron, told The Freeman she will not comment as to the proceedings of the case. – (FREEMAN)
