DOLE-7's new chief aims for industrial peace

CEBU, Philippines - Achieving industrial peace and gaining ISO certification is one of the major accomplishments of the newly-installed regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that she wants to replicate in Central Visayas.

Atty. Ma. Gloria Tango, the former regional director DOLE 12-Soccsksargen, assumed the post as regional director of DOLE-Central Visayas last February 1 after nearly five years of being DOLE region 12’s chief.

Regional director Exequiel Sarcauga has been transferred to Tacloban after serving more than two years as officer-in-charge in Central Visayas.

Sarcauga told The FREEMAN that at least 14 regional directors were reshuffled nationwide in view of the DOLE Administrative Order Number 518, Series of 2011 on the Re-assignment of Senior Officials, which took effect on February 1, 2012.

According to Sarcauga, the reshuffling of regional directors and assistant directors will also strengthen the delivery of services and to maintain transparency in all DOLE offices.

“Expected naman namo tanan ang reshuffling kay giingnan naman mi daan,” Sarcauga said. (We’ve all been expecting the reshuffling because we have been informed beforehand.)

Sarcauga said he was thankful for the support given by all sectors saying that his focus was on employment facilitation and the welfare of the labor force.

Sarcauga who was designated as assistant director in 2006 and as officer-in-charge in 2011, said that Tango have also been noted for her achievements in region 12

Tango said one accomplishment that she can be proud of during her stint as regional director of DOLE-12, was achieving industrial peace and the ISO certification that she worked hard to achieve for in three years.

As chief of DOLE-12, Tango was credited for leading the promotion of industrial peace in the region as evidenced by zero strikes in her entire five-year stint there. It was also during her leadership that DOLE-12 achieved ISO 9001-2008 certification for its quality management system. — (FREEMAN)
