Sikad drivers shot in Danao; 1 dead

CEBU, Philippines - Two men on board a motorcycle shot a tricycle driver to death and injured one other in Barangay Looc, Danao City early dawn yesterday.

Police identified the fatality as 17-year-old Julian Dayang, single, while the injured man was identified as Jaime Seballo, 27, married. Both are residents of Barangay Looc.

Investigation revealed that the two were sleeping in their respective cabs in Juan Luna Street around 1am while waiting for passengers when the suspects arrived on board a motorcycle. The man riding in pillion was the one who opened fire.

PO1 Wendel Baritua of the Danao City Police said Dayang was hit on the chest and forearm while Seballo was hit below the left chest.

Concerned citizens rushed the victims to the Danao District Hospital but Dayang was declared dead on arrival.

Owing to his critical condition, Seballo was transferred to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for further treatment.

PO1 Baritua said they have yet to determine the motive behind the attack. Investigation is ongoing for the possible identification and arrest of the suspects. — (FREEMAN)
