Man faces raps for selling x-rated DVDs

CEBU, Philippines - For selling the controversial sex video of the late actor Ramgen Revilla and his girlfriend Jennelyn Manahan, a native of Marawi, Lanao del Sur is facing charges in court.

Prosecutor Dixon Fuentes elevated the case for violation of Republic Act 9995, also known as the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act, against 27-year-old Marck Ibrahim Ismael.

The accused had chosen not to undergo preliminary investigation to answer the allegation at the prosecutor’s level. Fuentes recommended a bail of P9,000 for him.

A joint-affidavit of the members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-7 said they received a call from an unidentified caller on January 26, 2012 informing them of the sale of the x-rated DVDs.

The informant told them it was a certain Marck who owned the stall at Colon Street, Cebu City. The police immediately verified the report and conducted a surveillance that confirmed the information.

The CIDG then conducted a buy-bust operation which led to Ismael’s arrest.

The police said they confiscated various pornographic DVDs and recovered the buy-bust money.

The family of Manahan had filed before the CIDG national headquarters a complaint to stop the proliferation of the controversial sex video. – (FREEMAN)
