BOC awards top 10 importers and exporters for 2011

CEBU, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs-Cebu awarded yesterday the top ten importers and exporters for 2011 in the Port of Cebu and in the sub-port of Mactan in recognition of their huge contributions to the bureau’s revenue collection.

BOC district collector Ronnie Silvestre said that the bureau was able to collect a total of P8.094 billion last year, or an excess of P94 million against their target collection of P8 billion.

Silvestre said the bureau was able to collect such amount because of the importers and exporters’ commitment to increase business activities here. 

Seaoil Philippines, Inc. ranked the hightest among the top ten importers for the Port of Cebu with P976,928,956.00 in taxes and duties paid and is followed by Steel Asia Manufacturing Corporation (P485,077,930.00), Kepco-SPC Power Corporation (P305,313,162.00), Petron Corporation (P257,064,966.00), Ad-Ken Trading (P232,787,406.00), Maxima Machineries Incorporated (P195,054,947.00), Carmen Copper Corporation (P192,726,954.00), A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corporation (P191,403,070.00), Ajinomoto Philippines, Corporation (P168,226249.00) and Petronas Energy Philippines, Incorporated (P140,533,041.00).

The top exporters and their corresponding payments of taxes and duties are Carmen Copper Corporation ($88,243,358.17), Profood International Corporation ($49,168,975.66), CP Kelco Philippines, Incorporation ($18,702,672.30), Shemberg Marketing Corporation ($14,623,144.34), Newtech Pulp Incorporated ($13,036,653.90), FMC Marine Colloids Philippines ($13,009,661.39), PEBA Trading and Manufacturing Corporation ($10,986,567.43), Cenapro Chemical Corporation ($10,800,026.77), 7D Food International Corporation ($10,785,542.90) and Dedon Manufacturing Incorporated ($9,203,224.18).

In the sub-port of Mactan, Tsuneishi Heavy Industries (Cebu) Incorporated is listed as the top exporter with a total payment of $640,529,625.21 representing taxes and duties.

Tsuneishi is followed by Cebu Mitsumi Incorporated ($471,109,178.61), Lexmark International ($206,042,085.48), Lear Automotive ($159,097,086.05), Muramoto ($114,314,179.43), Yuen Thai ($63,405,434.22), Metro Wear ($53,812,001.01), Global Wear Manufacturing ($46,180,226.01), Pentax Corporation  ($45,356,989.09) and Mactan Apparel ($45,215,210.69).

Seaoil vice president Bernadette Raymundo, said they will increase their importation by 30 percent this year.

She said that in Cebu alone, they will be putting up 17 gasoline stations. Twenty-two other gasoline stations in the Visayas and 34 gasoline stations in Mindanao will be put up within the year.

She added that Seaoil is importing fuel from Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific which is brought directly to their Cebu depot terminal at the International Pharmaceutical Inc. wharf in Mandaue City and Ludo wharf in Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
