City, province united for Sinulog - Gwen
CEBU, Philippines - The decision of both the provincial and city governments to come together and “a greater number of Cebuanos who united with the Cebu leaders” for the Sto. Niño made this year’s Sinulog celebration successful.
This was the statement of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, as she acknowledged the call of Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma for unity.
Palma made the call when he celebrated a Holy Mass for the Sinulog last year. The city needs the province; the province needs the city, Palma has said.
“All coming together first of all in deep devotion and in deep faith to the Señor Santo Niño and such devotion and faith were interwoven to all other activities,” she said.
Garcia said Cebu Province “needed” Cebu City in the same manner that Cebu City “needed” the province, which resulted to a successful Sinulog celebration.
Garcia acknowledged Palma’s statement as true and thanked the archbishop for pointing out the need for the two local government units to unite.
In last Sunday’s Pontifical Mass, Palma thanked both Garcia and Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama for showing unity and cooperation.
“I think the event had showed that the two leaders of both in Cebu City and the province are really reaching out and working hand in hand in order to achieve the greater good for the greater number for the entire Cebu,” she said. (FREEMAN)
