Daghang salamat!

-

CEBU, Philippines - Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas, chairman of The Freeman and Banat News, would like to deeply thank the kindhearted Cebuanos who responded to my call on their heart and kindness on our fundraising drive for our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City who were victims of Typhoon Sendong last December.

We are deeply grateful. I will personally write a letter to each one of those who responded to our call to inform them on what we did with the cash and in kind donations like canned goods, used clothing, bottled water, slippers, medicines and others.

In the press conference last January 5, we made mention that we have tapped Dr. Remedios Bacasmas and Atty. Joseph M. Baduel to coordinate with some of the alumni and local government units in CDO and Iligan to facilitate distribution.

I have directed them that all these donations that we have shared directly go to them and not just to anybody. The latest information we have received is that both areas need medicine and rice. I am also deeply honored and happy that our good friends, Mr. Chester Cokaliong and Ms. Pinky Sy are just too willing to help with the shipment.

To you all, daghan kaayong salamat… (FREEMAN)
