New guidelines for int'l passengers at exits 50,000 expected in 2012 Unity Run
CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Education (DepEd)-7 has expressed strong support for the upcoming Unity Run, a nationwide simultaneous run, which aims to acquire computers and air-conditioning units for public schools across the country.
This was conveyed by Victor Yntig who represented DepEd 7 Regional Director Recaredo Borgonia at a press conference held at the Cityscape Hotel in Mandaue City. The DepEd, through its Adopt-A-School Program, is the beneficiary of the Unity Run.
Yntig said Borgonia is encouraging teachers and students to give their support by participating in the activity. Cebu City is one of the eight locations of the nationwide events on January 22, 2012 dubbed as, “Kahit Isang Araw Lang: Unity Run.
Race Director Joel Baring said this year’s event is the biggest event that he has handled because it targets 50,000 runners.
The prizes, too, are bigger than other races with top three winners in both the male and female category.
For the 3K category, the first place winner will receive P10,000; the second winner will receive P5,000; while the third placer will receive P3,000.
In the 5K category, the first place winner will receive P15,000; the second place winner will receive P10,000; and the third place winner will receive P5,000.
For the 10K category, the first place winner will receive P20,000; the second place winner will receive P15,000; and the third place winner will receive P10,000.
All winners will also receive a medal and a trophy.
Prizes including a motorcycle, two laptops and three cellphones will also be raffled off to those who can finish the race.
Registration fees are as follows: P200 for 3K, P250 for 5K and P300 for 10K. Registration hubs include outlets of Chris Sports; Reebok; Res Toe Run, Columbia, R.O.X., Run Club Store and Active Zone. (FREEMAN)
