Akrho official arrested in drug bust
CEBU, Philippines - A chapter president of the Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) Fraternity was arrested Wednesday evening during a buy-bust operation conducted by the elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla.
Michael Gabi Gerasmio, 33, president of Akrho Minglanilla Chapter, was arrested for selling illegal drugs to an undercover agent during the buy-bust operation.
PDEA-7 spokesperson Jessie Tabanao said an undercover agent bought P200 worth of shabu and P300 worth of Nubain from the suspect.
Tabanao said that Gerasmio has been placed under surveillance for the past two weeks after they received information about his alleged illegal activities.
“In order to buy drugs from the suspect, buyers have to enter his house,” Tabanao said.
According to PDEA officials, the suspect keeps his supply inside a closet which he only opens when there is a buyer to avoid suspicion. The operatives of PDEA recovered 22 ampoules of nubain, nine sachets of shabu, disposable syringes, and a colt 1911 Caliber .45 pistol with six live rounds of ammunition.
Gerasmio, who is said to be a level 3 pusher in Minglanilla, admitted his illegal activities and claimed to have gotten his supply from Barangay Kamagayan in Cebu City.
He has been in operation since October last year and has been a drug addict for the past two years.
Gerasmio admitted that he is addicted to “milk shake” or the mixture of shabu and nubain.
Tabanao said that milk shake users, in just one session, can be high on drugs for four days.
“Ang usa ka pakete nga shabu isulod sa nubain unya pahilison, inig ka hilis i-inject na nila,” he said.
Gerasmio will face charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearm. (FREEMAN)
