Minor shot, critical

CEBU, Philippines - A 16-year-old boy is now fighting for his life after he was shot by an unidentified man in Centro Alaska, Barangay Mambaling late Saturday night.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his head, stomach, and back.

Police investigation revealed that the victim, a resident of the nearby sitio Alaska, was sitting on a wooden bench in front of the Our Lady of Lourdes chapel at 9 pm when the assailant appeared and shot him for no apparent reason.

The victim fell and was rushed by responding policemen to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Policemen recovered two slugs and two empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol from the crime scene.

The police are still trying to determine the motive behind the incident as the victim is still being treated at the hospital.

Meanwhile, two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle shot and injured 32-year-old Paul Timothy So at Queen’s Road in Barangay Camputhaw at past 7 pm last Saturday.

Arvy Miano, 28, saw the assailants on board a silver and gray colored motorcycle, with a front “Soul” logo sticker.

The assailants reportedly parked their motorcycle at the roadside and upon seeing the victim heading their way onboard a Honda motorcycle, the gunman alighted and waylaid the victim, before shooting him.

The gunman returned to his accomplice onboard the waiting motorcycle and sped off towards Manalo St.

The victim, a resident of Tupas St., Barangay Pasil, was hit on his back but still managed to drive towards Cebu Doctors Hospital for treatment.

Policemen who responded to the area recovered three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol and a deformed slug of the same caliber from the crime scene.

Investigators are still trying to get in touch with the victim to determine the motive behind the incident, which they believed to be due to personal grudge. — (FREEMAN)
