Dead dolphin in Santander

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A baby dolphin was found dead along the shore of Barangay Canlumacad, Santander on Sunday. The dolphin, with scratches and bruises, was found around 6:30 a.m. by fishermen who promptly called the police for assistance.

PO1 Richard Cavalida of the Santander Police Station said the dolphin’s scratches and bruises were possibly caused by a collision.

“Daghang paksit-paksit ang nawong unya sa lawas sad mura’g nadasmagan og gahi nga butang,” Cavalida said.

Cavalida said personnel of the Bureau of Fishery and Aquatic Resources found no signs that the dolphin was captured.

“Wa may ilhanan nga gibunalan o gisuwayan og dakop,” he said. The dolphin was 62 inches long and weighed 10 kilos. (FREEMAN)
