Police arrest robber
CEBU, Philippines - A self-confessed ex-convict was arrested by the police after victimizing a woman who was sitting at a waiting shed along the national highway of Barangay Esperanza, Aloguinsan on Friday afternoon.
Instead of starting a new life, Rey Rosales will be charged again for robbery for victimizing Maria Victoria de la Cerna, 51, resident of the said barangay.
De la Cerna said she noticed Rosales, 28, of Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City on board a black motorcycle bearing 5014-GN passing by her once while she was at the waiting shed, which is near her house.
She added that Rosales came back. She thought he would merely ask for directions but Rosales robbed her of her belongings.
Rosales aimed at her his .357 pistol which was found to be loaded with six bullets. He then took her gold necklace worth P6,000 and P6,000 cash from her wallet.
PO2 Eugene Tabuada said Rosales threatened her before speeding off towards Barangay Poblacion. De la Cerna immediately called the Aloguinsan Police Station for assistance.
“Iyang gi-describe nga nag-jacket ug orange unya ga-motor ug itom,” Tabuada said.
Police conducted a road block in Barangay Poblacion where Rosales was arrested. The stolen items were recovered and his firearm was seized.
Rosales admitted to the police that he was detained at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center for robbery. The case was dismissed two months ago and he was released.
Now he will be facing the same charges again which will be filed in court tomorrow. (FREEMAN)
