CEBU, Philippines - The Capitol has included Cebu City schools in the awarding of outstanding implementors of the Enhanced Greening with our Environment that Nurtures (EGWEN) program.
Also awarded were the principals, teachers and students for planting the most number of jackfruit trees in the last years up to present.
For the Cebu Province Division, the top 20 elementary schools are the Simeon Ayuda Elementary School (ES) in Liloan which got an LCD Projector with screen; Garing ES in Consolacion which was awarded a computer-printer set with table; F. Villamor ES in Carmen; Yati ES in Liloan; and Kabatuan ES in Ginatilan which got gas ranges; Calero ES and Jubay ES in Liloan; Palanas ES in Ginatilan; Malbago ES in Madridejos; Oboob ES in Bantayan; Lataban ES Liloan; Medellin Central School; Calape ES in Daanbantayan; Libjo ES in Tabogon; Bitoon ES in Daanbantayan; San Agustin ES in Madridejos; Sta. Cruz ES in Liloan; Don Virgilio ES in Medelin and Panas ES in Consolacion which got TV-DVD player sets.
The top ten secondary schools are Kal-anan National High School in Tabogon which got an LCD Projector with screen; SK Luis Cañete NHS which received a computer-printer set with table and Malingin NHS which was given a gas range. SK Luis and Malingin are both in Daanbantayan. Also awarded were Garing NHS in Consolacion and Arcelo NHS in Liloan with gas ranges as prizes; San Remegio NHS, Caleriohan NHS in Dalaguete and Tabunan NHS in Borbon which received electric sewing machines; Bateria NHS and Tominjao NHS both in Daanbantayan which were given TV-DVD player sets.
Also awarded are the top five outstanding school implementors in each of the nine city school divisions.
For Bogo City are the Guadalupe ES, Libertad NHS, Dakit ES, La Paz ES and Banban NHS. Carcar City awardees are the Can-asujan ES, Calidngan ES, Roberto Sato Memorial NHS, Gelacio Babao Memorial NHS and Valencia NHS.
From Cebu City are the Napo ES, Guba ES, Don Sergio Osmeña MNHS, and the Integrated Schools of Tabunan and Cantipla. In Danao City, awarded were the Sta. Rosa ES, Quisol ES, Danao City Central School, Estefa O. Monte Memorial NHS and Elpidio Perez MNHS.
In Lapu-Lapu City, winners were the Lapu-Lapu City Central Elementary School, Marigondon ES, Canjulao ES, Babag NHS and Marigondon NHS.For Mandaue City are the Opao ES, Cabancalan 1 ES, Mandaue City Central School, Mandaue City Comprehensive NHS and Maguikay NHS.
In Naga are Placido L. Señor NHS, Alpaco ES, Uling NHS, Pangdan ES and Uling ES while in Talisay City are the Tapul ES, Maghaway ES, Tapul NHS, Maghaway NHS and Mohon ES. From Toledo City are the Awihao NHS, F. Dolino ES, Bato ES, Gen. Climaco NHS and New Bucao ES.
Two second year students from Caleriohan NHS in Dalaguete - Cirilo Monceda and Cyril Aguitong, received P3,000 and P2,000 for planting 550 and 402 jackfruit trees, respectively for school year 2010-2011.
For planting 200 jackfruit trees each, pupils Shane Cutab of Panas ES in Consolacion and Mariel Boto of Simeon Ayuda ES in Liloan received P1,000 each.
There are other 46 students and pupils who received P500 each for planting more than 50 jackfruit trees but less than 200 jackfruit trees. Twenty-two pupils and students who are able to sustain the growth of their planted jackfruits for the past five years from school year 2006-2007 to present received P2,000 each.
For planting 8,000 trees, Simeon Ayuda ES in Liloan led by Asteria Noval and 3,000 trees of Kal-anan NHS led by Mavies Inot received plaques of recognition.
Special awardees for maintaining 100 percent of trees planted growing for the past five years are the Simeon Ayuda ES in Liloan (8,000 trees); SK Luis Cañete NHS in Daanbantayan (3,500) and Kal-anan NHS in Tabogon (3,000).
District caretaker of Liloan, Richard Acaso and principal Edgardo Diamos of Bateria NHS in Daanbantayan led the 15 teachers and principals who were able to plant the most number of jackfruits at 75 trees each.
Teachers Leizl Pepito, Estrellita Gastador, Maria Fe Son, Era Almanzer, Maria Fe Mantos, Rosabella Moñosco, Maricel Rosell, Lilibeth Caballero, Aubrey Diaz, Azemith Diamos and Evelyn Albellar, all of Bateria NHS in Daanbantayan also among the 15 for planting more than 50 jackfruits. (FREEMAN)
