Rama defends radio program
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama defended the city government’s radio program aired over DYRF of Word Broadcasting Corporation saying that the airtime is primarily to promote the city and its programs.
During yesterday’s city council session, the council has approved the extension of the radio program “Banat Sugbo” which started in January this year.
Rama said that the radio program provides information to the people and not to benefit nor attack specific persons.
“Instruction has already been given to them to promote Cebu City and not use it in favor of a certain person,” Rama said.
The mayor made the clarification after Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young asked for guidelines on the city-paid radio program.
Young requested for the guidelines following reports that he was allegedly criticized in the program. Rama assured the members of the council that there is nothing to worry about it because he made a clear instruction to the anchors of the show.
“Banat Sugbo” is being hosted by Arnel Bacalan, Oscar Pasaporte and Toni Avila.
The city pays P141,600 per month for the radio program which runs for two hours Monday to Saturday. —(FREEMAN)
