2 girls missing in Tabuelan
CEBU, Philippines - Two elementary pupils were reported missing since last week in Tabuelan town.
Tabuelan policemen and the parents are still tracing the whereabouts of Rowena Ramos, 11, and her younger sister Robelyn, 7, after they failed to return home since Thursday last week.
The incident was reported on Saturday.
Rowena and Robelyn are grade three and grade one pupils of Tabuelan Central School.
PO2 Marlen Duran, of the Women’s and Children Protection Desk, said the parents of the girls are now at the house of their relatives in Buhisan, Cebu City to check whether the girls are there.
“Wala pa mauli sila inig abot ato mangayo mi nila og unsa’y information nga ilang nakuha ngadto,” Duran said.
On Thursday morning last week, the two children were seen leaving their house carrying their school bags supposedly bound for school.
But, according to their advisers, the two were absent when they had a roll call that morning.
According to Duran, the girls’ mother Lita said that the two went home before lunch and left later.
They then failed to return home as of yesterday. Rowena wore camouflage short pants, white polo shirt and slippers while Robelyn wore blue skirt and yellow T-shirt.
Lita denied that they scolded the children before they left but said Rowena once asked for a pair of shoes which they failed to buy due to financial problem.
Police said the two may have been lured into going with a person whom they did not know.
Police are now waiting for the parents to appear at the station today for additional information about the missing girls. — (FREEMAN)
