Release of ambulances, fire trucks pushed

CEBU, Philippines - Local officials are asking Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo to help facilitate the release of ambulances and fire trucks now pending at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

The request was aired by the mayors in yesterday’s general assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines at the Cebu International Convention Center.

Robredo, one of the guests in the three-day event, said his office will try to facilitate the immediate release of the ambulances and fire trucks.

Some mayors in Luzon said they already made the down payment of their 50 percent share last year, but until now the ambulances still at the PCSO.

Robredo said being mayor for 19 years, he knows the problem of every town and city. But he admitted that funding is also the reason for the delay.

He, however, said that he is working for the distribution of fire trucks to all cities and towns in the country. – (FREEMAN)
