Cops warned against indiscriminate firing

CEBU, Philippines - Regional Police Office-7 Deputy for Operations Sr. Supt. Louie Oppus warned policemen that they will not tolerate indiscriminate firing especially during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“Di mi magpanuko nga relibuhon ang mga pulis nga mag pasagad og pamusil,” Oppus said.

Oppus said that policemen should be walking role models for the public and should not be the ones who violate the law.

He said that those who will violate such rule will surely face the appropriate retributive actions especially if it will endanger the lives of people.

“They just need to follow their job,” Oppus said.

Following the usual practice, Oppus said that they will tape the muzzles of their guns, they are just waiting for the go signal from Camp Crame.

As it a low-tech precautionary measure, he said this will be not enough to monitor their men.

That is why he further urged the general public to also be vigilant for indiscriminate fire from the men in uniform.

In previous years there have been several reports of policemen who were involved in indiscriminate fire which resulted to fatalities.  (FREEMAN)
