Marijuana uprooted in Danao, alleged pusher falls in Tabogon

CEBU, Philippines - Policemen uprooted over 40 fully-grown marijuana plants and 200 seedlings from a marijuana plantation in a mountain barangay in Danao City early last Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, policemen in Tabogon arrested an alleged noted drug pusher last Saturday morning.

Policemen from Danao City Police Station led by their acting chief, Chief Insp. Ricky Dalelis, uprooted the illegal plants in the mountain barangay of Togonon, some 15 kilometers away from Barangay Poblacion.

The police had to walk for several hours at past 12 am to reach the area as vehicles could not pass through. With the help of barangay tanods and Barangay Intelligence Network members, they finished uprooting the plants and seedlings at past 5 am.

There were no houses in the area except for one owned by Restie Batucan, whom Dalelis will request to appear before their office to shed light as to the ownership of the alleged plantation.

In a separate incident in Barangay Ilihan, Tabogon at 5 am last Saturday, police collared Derick Arpon by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Antonio Marigomen of the Regional Trial Court Branch 61 in Bogo City.

The suspect is reportedly a known drug pusher in their area, according to the police.

Implementing the warrant, the policemen searched the house of the suspect and recovered a small plastic pack with four sachets believed to contain shabu.

They also recovered P200 and a cellular phone from the suspect’s possession during the operation.

The suspect is now detained and will face charges today. — (FREEMAN)
