Father stabs son in Aloguinsan

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - A motorcycle, which was about to be sold, triggered a father to stab his son who was sleeping inside their house in Barangay Bonbon, Aloguinsan at about 10:00 in the evening on Thursday.

Romano Bayadog, 48, is now under observation at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center after he was stabbed on the chest by his own father, Monico Bayadog, 76.

Monico is now detained at the Aloguinsan police stockade after he was arrested by the police who confiscated a bolo, which was believed to be what he used in stabbing Romano.

PO1 Recelieto Quilaton said that father and son already had an argument early morning that day when Monico who owned the motorcycle, was planning to sell it due to financial needs, however the decision was opposed by his son.

Romano who has been using the motorcycle, disagreed that it will be sold for only P10, 000 saying the amount was too cheap.

“Mura’g gisayangan na man pud ning anak gud nga ibaligya kay dugay na nila unya siya ma’y gadala-dala ani,” Quilaton said.

The motorcycle was not sold, but unknowingly, Monico had been harboring a grudge against Romano.

On the evening of that same day, Monico allegedly went inside his son’s room and armed with a bolo, stabbed Romano once.

Monico’s other son, Norberto Bayadog, 38, saw what his father did, immediately grabbed the bolo and shouted for help.

This gave Romano the chance to escape and run outside the house.

Police said the blood of the victim’s wound was still spurting when he was primarily rushed to the Pinamungajan District Hospital.

Police added that they are still waiting for any of the family members to appear before their office and file appropriate criminal charges. (FREEMAN)
