2 commit suicide
CEBU, Philippines - A P200 could be a small amount but not for a 15-year-boy who ended his life after he was scolded for stealing the cash from his aunt’s sari-sari store in Barangay Talaytay, Argao on Friday.
The victim’s aunt, Yolanda Oyangoren, 52, discovered her nephew Michael Lauron hanging at about 6:00 in the evening when she arrived from her sari-sari store and was about to prepare their dinner.
Oyangoren hurriedly sought the help of neighbors, who untied Lauron. They then took him to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital but he did not reach it alive.
PO1 Renato Nacaytuna of the Argao Police Station said that Lauron tied a nylon rope around his neck and tied the other end to the kitchen’s ceiling.
Lauron, a high school undergraduate, and her older sister Maria Theresa, who is now a college student in one of the universities in Cebu City, have been living with Oyangoren after their parents died years ago.
Oyangoren admitted that on Wednesday morning she scolded Lauron after knowing the boy took P200 from the store and spent it on Internet games.
The victim attended to the sari-sari store when Oyangoren was busy with house chores.
The boy admitted taking the money. Nobody was around when he committed suicide since Oyangoren was at the store. The cop added that Lauron was a silent and honest boy as what Oyangoren described him.
Meanwhile, a call center agent was also found hanging dead inside his room in Barangay Kamputhaw yesterday morning.
Jerry Allen Villondo, 27, was found with an identification card cord and face towel tied on his neck.
His brother discovered his body at 2 a.m. yesterday. Joel Floreta, the victim’s uncle, told The FREEMAN that the victim had a drinking session with his friends and told them he had a problem.
The victim reportedly got mad at a woman his father is allegedly having an illicit love affair with. That night also, his parents argued. He tried to interfere but his mother told him not to. This allegedly disheartened the victim.— (FREEMAN)
