CEBU, Philippines - Three names have already been forwarded to Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama as nominees for the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs Chief position.
Rolando Llaguno of barangay Adlaon, Lita Lumibaw of barangay Labangon and George Villamor of barangay Kamagayan garnered the three highest votes during the election among representatives from each of the 80 barangays in Cebu City.
From these three, the mayor shall choose the next OSCA head. The election for the three nominees for OSCA Head was held at Hotel Fortuna last November 23 with 73 OSCA leaders from different barangays present. Only 71 votes were counted because one was invalid while one senior citizen abstained from voting.
Llaguno got 23 votes while Lumibaw and Villamor garnered 13 and 11 votes. The voting was conducted through secret balloting.
Those who attended the election were the ones elected at the barangay level. Jeffrey Ocampo, Executive Assistant of the Mayor, and is assigned at OSCA, said that the three names have been submitted to the mayor who shall pick whom he wants to head the OSCA.
The new OSCA shall succeed former OSCA Head Guillermo Casinillo whose term expires this year. But before his term expired, he resigned from his post last September due to health reasons. Casinillo headed the OSCA for three years. — (FREEMAN)
