Septuagenarian woman falls in drug buy-bust
CEBU, Philippines - A senior citizen is supposed to stay at home and enjoy every minute of his life, but this is not the case of a 70-year-old woman who was arrested by the Naga City police Monday evening for selling marijuana sticks in Sitio Central, Barangay Langtad, Naga City.
Margarita Genoviana was caught in the act of selling marijuana to an undercover policeman during a buy-bust operation outside her residence.
Naga City police operatives have confiscated 10 marijuana sticks and the P100 buy-bust money from the suspect. Margarita was with her son, Wendell, 35, during the operation but the latter was able to escape from the dragnet.
According to the police, Margarita is on their drug watch list but could not consider her as notorious drug pusher because her operation goes on and off.
“Dili gyud ni siya ingon kanunay kay mamaligya ra man siya ug dunay sapi,” the police said.
Margarita is usually given money by her other child but she is allegedly using it as capital to buy illegal drugs.
She has been arrested before for drug possession but she was able to post bail. The police are preparing criminal charges against her for violation of sections 5 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (FREEMAN)
