CEBU, Philippines - The Order of Augustinian Recollects in the Philippines is holding its first International Recoletos Education Congress in Cebu this week.
The three-day event will be held starting on November 26 to 28 at the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) Center for Performing Arts.
Rev. Father Raul M. Buhay, president of the Recoletos Education Apostolate in the Philippines, said the event was inspired by the theme, “Kindling the Heart and Empowering the Mind for Responsible Stewardship.”
Buhay said they have lined up several activities which include holding various seminars in the areas of environment, administration, and Augustinian Recollect culture.
According to Buhay, the activity complies with the fourth provincial chapter ordinance of the OAR that gave a mandate to the administration of the Religious Province to celebrate an education year within the triennium or every three years.
To make the event more exciting, the administration will be inviting international and local speakers to give inputs on topics and issues relevant to their educational apostolate.
“It’s very inspiring to note the purpose of the gathering of the educators, both lay and religious students from all OAR and AR school and interested parties in such a way to strengthen the bond among schools, consolidate the role of the educators, synergize the resources and find niche in the educational landscape of the country,” Buhay said.
Two hundred delegates from the other schools will also be attending in this momentous event. There are also international representatives coming from the countries of Rome, Spain and Colombia. – (FREEMAN)
