Capitol extends MIMS contract

CEBU, Philippines - The provincial government of Cebu has extended the services of the Mandaue Integrated Manpower Services until the year ends pending the awarding of contract to the new janitorial and manpower services provider.

Provincial treasurer Roy Salubre who sits as chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee said that the extension of MIMS services covers from November 15 to December 31.

Salubre said this is to give BAC members the time to complete the post evaluation on the three bidders. Aside from the janitorial services, Salubre said they are also extending until the end of the year the clerical and paramedical services provided by the Powerline Services, a sister company of MIMS.

According to Salubre, some of the clerks under the Powerline Services will be retained, especially those who are performing well.

Bernard Calderon, head of the Provincial General Services Office and BAC Vice chairman, identified the three bidders as New Cordel, Perfect Clean, and Care Best Inc.

Calderon pointed out that obtaining the lowest bid doesn’t necessarily mean that Care Best Inc. qualified the least to replace the janitorial services of MIMS.

Calderon said they will conduct a separate bidding for the clerical and paramedical services.

Right now, they are post-evaluating the three bidders and hopefully to award the best bidder this month.

The signing of the contract will be done as soon as Governor Gwendolyn Garcia arrives on December 6 from her trip in South America.

Calderon said there are 105 to 109 janitors under MIMS currently working at the Capitol and its satellite offices.

The clerical services of MIMS were supposed to end last Nov. 15 and the janitorial services on the 30th.

Garcia ordered the termination of the services of MIMS because she has already lost her “trust and confidence” to the agency.

Capitol spokesperson Rory Jon Sepulveda denied rumors that the governor terminated their services because she allegedly had a falling out with Glenn Soco, son of MIMS president and chief operating officer Adelina Soco.

Glenn also denied that there was a personal rift between him and Garcia that resulted to the termination of the employment contract of MIMS. — (FREEMAN)
