CEBU, Philippines - A printing company was destroyed when a fire struck its building late Saturday night along N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City.
The fire ate up all of Stickerworld Advertising’s papers, furniture, and computer sets, among other items.
Damage was estimated to be more or less P250,000 while the cause of the fire was not yet determined.
Cebu City fire marshall Aderson Comar said the fire, which was raised to second alarm, was reported at 11:13 pm and was controlled in seven minutes.
A tenant, who lives some meters away from the back of the building, first saw the fire.
Comar explained that because the fire was confined within the two-storey concrete building, it was not able to spread to the houses which were also fortunately situated some distance away.
Fire stations from all over Cebu City, and several other units which assisted the Cebu City Fire Department, were also able to immediately reach the fire scene which was just along the highway.
Comar said the cause of the fire was not yet determined, but he theorized that a spark might have taken place inside the building and was caught by chemicals used in printing, and this triggered the fire.
“Mismo ang tagtungod, wala ju’y mga namatyagan sa sulod sa bulding na posibleng naka-cause sa fire,” Comar said.
The fire marshall said nobody was injured in the blaze.
Comar said it was the first time the building, which is owned by Antonio Osmeña, caught fire. — (FREEMAN)
