CEBU, Philippines - Two men were shot dead in two separate shooting incidents in Cebu City last Friday and yesterday.
The first victim, which police have not yet identified, was shot while walking along B. Colina Street, Sitio Magtalisay, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City at around 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon.
Cebu City Police Office homicide Investigator PO3 Ruth Violango told The FREEMAN that the victim was reportedly walking with the two gunmen when he was shot.
The victim was reportedly walking at the said place when one of the gunmen reportedly put his arm around the victim’s shoulder and shot him pointblank.
As the victim was sprawled and bloodied on the ground, another gunman reportedly shot him.
While residents and pedestrians scampered for safety, the two assailants reportedly fled on foot casually towards M.J. Cuenco Avenue before boarding a jeepney.
One of the witnesses allegedly heard the two suspects say, “Patay na ba kaha to siya?”
Operatives from the Parian Police Station immediately conducted hot pursuit operation but to no avail.
The victim, who died on the spot, sustained three gunshot wounds on his head and on the left side of his body.
Violango said there is a possibility that the victim knew his assailants because witnesses noticed the victim, together with the two gunmen, minutes before the shooting happened. “Kaila ra tingali ni sa victim ang nag-pusil niya,” she said.
The victim who is believed to be in his 30’s, had a tattoo on the right chest which reads, “My only one love Berongue Fely.”
He stands at around five feet and five inches tall and of medium built. He was wearing a black and blue shirt, a green sweatshirt, black short pants and yellow slippers.
“Sa pagka-karon ato pa i-consider tanan anggulo kay wala pa man ta kaila sa victim (at this point, we are still considering all angles),” Violango said.
Meanwhile, eighteen-year-old high school student, Aljione Sanchez of Barangay Quiot Pardo, Cebu City was shot dead by two unidentified assailants yesterday dawn.
Sanchez, who just came from an internet café, was reportedly tailed by the two assailants while walking home.
Noticing that there were men following him, the victim reportedly ran but the two assailants chased him until he was gunned down in front of Pardo National High School, along Gabuya Street, Poblacion Barangay Pardo, Cebu City at around 1:30 a.m.
Elements from Pardo Police Station, together with barangay tanods conducted hot pursuit operations but failed to arrest the suspects.
Sanchez sustained gunshot wounds on his right chest, left arm, and left armpit after he allegedly tried to protect himself using his arms.
“Mura’g gi-trippingan ra ni siya kay murag choy-choyon man pud ni siya’g hitsura,” said the 18-year-old victim’s girlfriend.
She said that a few days before the incident, she had been telling the victim to go home early after playing computer games at the said internet café.
“Ingon ang mga saksi, gi-atanan ni siya sa gawas sa internetan human gi-gukod siya og gi-pusil, tungod gyud sa gate sa tunghaan,” said Violango who also investigated the incident. (FREEMAN)
