CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Fourth District Rep. Benhur Salimbangon are spending their holiday today in Bantayan Island to distribute packs of rice and canned goods to indigent families in the municipality of Santa Fe’s islet barangays.
Salimbangon said that there are 2,358 identified indigent families to receive the packs of rice and canned goods in barangays Hilantagaan and Langub, in Santa Fe which belongs to his district.
This morning, Garcia, Salimbangon and other local officials will cross from Santa Fe to Hilantagaan Island to distribute the rice and canned goods.
From there, they will cross to Kinatarcan Island to inaugurate a two-classroom school building at the Kinatarcan National High School constructed by the Provincial Government.
The distribution of rice and canned goods will be continued in barangay Langub, part of Kinatarcan Island, after lunch time.
Upon returning to Bantayan island, Garcia and Salimbangon will meet at the town hall with lot occupants of the Santa Fe Airport to discuss some issues arising with the Provincial Government’s plan to develop the airport.
Tomorrow, they will proceed to the Municipality of Bantayan to inaugurate two-classroom school buildings each for the Bantayan National High School and Patao National High School.
Garcia said she will also inspect other projects that have been completed since the last time she visited the place as well as check the on-going construction of some other projects.
The group will depart for Cebu City in the afternoon tomorrow. — (FREEMAN)
