CEBU, Philippines - An alleged level two drug pusher is now facing criminal charges for possession of illegal drugs after the city prosecutor’s office filed formal charges before the Regional Trial Court.
Prosecutor Noel Cellona recommended P200,000 bail for the temporaty liberty of Jesusimo “Titot” Dequitos, 57, a resident of Villagonzalo II, Barangay Tejero Cebu City.
Dequitos is now charged for violation of Section II Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act after Dequitos failed to file controverting evidence.
Dequitos was arrested by the Cebu City Police Office Intelligence Branch headed by Chief Insp. Romeo Santander through the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Soliver Peras of Branch 10.
PO2 Adriano Bacatan, who was designated as recorder under the supervision of Santander, said they implemented the search warrant along with barangay officials in the residence of Dequitos at around 3:00 a.m last October 25.
He said they searched the house of Dequitos and confiscated one transparent plastic box that contained ten pieces medium sizes heat-sealed transparent plastic packs allegedly containing shabu; P38,060 cash believed to be proceeds of illegal activities; and three cell phones.
After the search, Bacatan said they brought Dequitos to the police station for proper disposition and turned over the confiscated items to the PNP Crime Laboratory.
Examination of the confiscated evidence showed that it was positive for the presence of methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as shabu.
Police officers applied for the search warrant after they received numerous complaints from the residents in the said barangay. (FREEMAN)
