CEBU, Philippines - An estimated P300,000 worth of computer equipments were carted away by unidentified burglars on Wednesday morning at the principal’s office of the Ramon M. Durano Science and Technology Educational Center in Barangay Guinsay, Danao City.
Items lost include seven sets of liquid crystal display (LCD) computers, five systems of unit power logic, one laptop, one UPS power supply, one keyboard, one surveillance camera and one router.
Val Jacobe, the school principal, alleged that he was about to open the door of his office that morning when he noticed that the padlock of the door was missing which prompted him to call the school’s property custodian, Bobbie Lavador, 28. Lavador conducted an inventory of the room and noticed that the said items were missing.
Police suspected that burglars gained entry to the office by destroying the padlock of main door and proceeded right away to the computer area where the sets were placed.
Authorities noted that the burglars took advantage of the semestral break where students and teachers are on a long holiday.
Saturnino Casas, 59, a farmer and his son Renevee Casas, 16, out of school youth were invited to the police station for questioning.
As watchmen of the school, both father and son were tasked to man the school.
Upon interrogation, both strongly denied any involvement in the incident but police are still investigating the case. (FREEMAN)
