CEBU, Philippines - An alleged playboy was shot dead while eating his supper inside their nipa hut in Barangay Langtad, Argao at about 8:15 in the evening last Tuesday.
Wilfredo Pardo, 49 and a native of Alcantara southeastern town, succumbed to a gunshot wound on his right chest where the bullet exited through his back and eventually hit the wall of their house.
Pardo, also a carpenter, was able to run towards their door to check who the assailant was but the fatal gunshot wound ended his life.
Chief Inspector Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of the Argao Police Station, said Pardo and his live-in partner were having supper during the attack. The victim was seated facing the door while his live-in partner was sitting beside him with her back on the wall.
The live-in partner only heard a lone gunfire but failed to recognize the assailant because of a curtain that covered their bedroom which also serves as their dining area.
Responding policemen only recovered a slug of an unknown caliber of firearm inside the house.
Just this year, an unknown person attempted to kill Pardo, however he was only hit on his leg.
Batobalonos disclosed that Pardo was having an affair with a young woman who also has a boyfriend.
Pardo was separated with his first live-in partner and currently living with another woman.
“Puro lang gyud ni iya ipon-ipon wa gyud ni siya’y gipakaslan bisan usa unya muporma gihapon bisan edaran na,” Batobalonos told The FREEMAN.
He added that the separate shooting incidents were not related.
Pardo’s current live-in partner, who is an old maid, admitted that she knew the girlfriend of the latter but refused to disclose the name to the police.
Police believed that there are witnesses because the house of the victim is not in a secluded area. Fronting the house is a basketball court and a hangout shanty.
Pardo’s body was taken to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Carcar City. — (FREEMAN)
