"Depressed" man hangs self

CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old high school dropout ended his life by hanging after he was believed to have had misunderstanding with her girlfriend last Saturday.

Junrel Caballero, resident of Barangay Tinaan, Naga City, was found by his mother hanging with a waterhose tied around his neck inside his bedroom.

His father tried to save him by cutting the hose and brought him to the Naga District Hospital where he was declared dead.

Senior Police Officer 1 Bernard Otida said Junrel was left alone in their house because his mother had a business meeting in their neighbor’s house. When the mother returned home she found her son already suspended in the air.

According to the police, Junrel was noticed by his mother, lately, to be depressed but just ignored it.

Investigators discovered that Junrel had a girlfriend whom he had kept from his parents.

“Ang pamilya walay kalibutan nga duna ni uyab kay wala man pu’y gisulti, wala gani sila kaila,” Otida said.

The police suspect that Junrel may have broke up with his girlfriend. - THE FREEMAN
