Man dies in motorcycle accident
CEBU, Philippines - A motorcycle-for-hire driver was declared dead on arrival at the Carcar City Emergency hospital after the motorcycle he was driving collided with another motorcycle in Sitio Tal-ot, Barangay Valencia, Carcar City Sunday evening.
The fatality was identified as Reynaldo Malilong, of Sitio Dapdap, Barangay Poblacion III. His attending physician said Malilong died of severe injuries on his head.
Miguelito Enario Lauron, of Barangay Valencia, who was taken to the same hospital, was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for further medical treatment due to his injuries.
Malilong was on board his Honda XRM 110cc bearing plate numbers OW-3019 when it collided with the Suzuki motorcycle 110cc which does not have a plate number, and driven by Lauron who is from Barangay Valencia.
Senior Police Officer 1 Eduardo Bagol, Carcar City traffic investigator, said Malilong was coming from Sitio Tal-ot while Lauron was coming from Sitio Awayan when the incident happened.
Bagol said both were traveling at high speed when Lauron tried to encroach on the opposite lane, causing Malilong to hit him.
The impact made both drivers lose control of their motorcycles and slam on the asphalt road.
Police are yet to ascertain who among the two were under the influence of liquor.
While Lauron is still recuperating at the hospital, police are now preparing charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide against him.
So far, nobody from the family of Malilong has appeared at the police station for the filing of criminal charges. (FREEMAN)
