Sisters charged for illegal drugs
CEBU, Philippines - Charges against two women, who are sisters-in-law and separately arrested by the Provincial Intelligence Branch in Toledo City on Sunday, were filed yesterday afternoon at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects Lilibeth Respondo of Barangay Cantabaco and Cheryl Respondo of Barangay Poog were arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest for violating the Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Both warrants were issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 29 Judge Ruben Altubar.
A separate case for illegal possession of firearm was also filed against Alwin Repillo, of Abaca Road, Toledo City, who was accidentally sighted by the operatives carrying an unlicensed firearm.
At about 10:45 in the morning on Sunday, operatives were conducting a raid at the house of Lilibeth in Barangay Cantabaco were she was arrested.
While the operatives were heading towards Cheryl’s house in Barangay Poog they saw Repillo walking along the road with a gun tucked in his waist.
Operatives approached Repillo and frisked him, resulting in the recovery of a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with seven bullets and a spare magazine loaded with three bullets.
At about 2:25 in the afternoon, the team served the warrant to Cheryl and found 25 small packets of shabu in her possession.
Operatives disclosed that both pushers were among the drug personalities in the watchlist of the Toledo City Police Station.
The two women are now detained at the Consolacion police stockade after the provincial police who conducted the arrest saw that there was no more space at the jail in Toledo City. – (FREEMAN)
