City councilor's store loses P26T to robbers
CEBU, Philippines - A convenience store owned by a councilor of Bogo City lost P26,000 in earnings after it was robbed by three unidentified robbers last Sunday.
Two of the three unidentified robbers entered Councilor Lyndon Acusar’s JYA Store along P. Rodriguez St. in Barangay Bungtod, Bogo City at 2:30 p.m. pretending to be customers while the other served as look out.
Catherine Camacho, 28, cashier, said the two robbers declared a hold-up using an unknown caliber handgun while the third robber was waiting outside onboard a red XRM motorcycle.
The robbers allegedly asked for the store’s earnings and ordered the other customers to drop on the floor.
Some of the customers claimed to have heard one of the robbers saying they were just ordered by the police. “Gisugo ra mi sa pulis,” a customer quoted one of the robbers.
Bogo City Police chief Ceferino Tabay denied the allegation supposedly coming from one of the robbers. Tabay said the robbers were just trying to mislead the public and the police.
“Impossible na nga manugo ang pulis mao na ilang style karon moingon nga pulis dayon,” he said over a phone interview.
Tabay however assured that they could trace the suspects even if the store did not have a closed-circuit television camera because a saleslady and a merchandiser were able to write down the plate number of the get away vehicle.
He said they are now checking with the Land Transportation Office in Medellin to verify the owner of the motorcycle. - (THE FREEMAN)
