Court resets Osorio murder suspect's arraignment anew
CEBU, Philippines - The Regional Trial Court has moved for the second time the arraignment of murder suspect Lyndon Horandoy after the latter failed to get a lawyer for his defense.
RTC Branch 17 Judge Silvestre Maamo was forced to reschedule Horandoy’s arraignment on October 4 to allow him and his family to look for lawyer.
Horandoy, who is accused in the murder of assistant city prosecutor Patrick Osorio, failed to get the services of a lawyer from the Public Attorney’s Office because his co-accused Allan Senogat has already secured one.
“Nangayo mig tabang sa Public Attorney’s Office pero ang assigned fiscal sa Branch 17 nag-handle na ni Allan Senogat,” Horandoy’s wife Vergie said.
Vergie said they have also asked help from City Hall but they were referred to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
Maamo ordered Horandoy to ensure that he has a lawyer in the next hearing.
Horandoy was originally scheduled for arraignment in September 12 but was moved yesterday also because of the same reason.
Horandoy was arrested last month by virtue of the warrant of arrest for murder issued by Maamo.
He was arrested by the City Intelligence Branch led by Romeo Santander in the mountain barangay of Guba.
Horandoy executed an extra-judicial confession admitting to the crime but accused Senogat of hiring him.- (THE FREEMAN)
