Boy who 'killed' mom, sis charged
CEBU, Philippines - The Naga City Prosecutor’s Office has elevated to court robbery with homicide charges against the 16-year-old boy who robbed then killed his pregnant mother and younger sister in Barangay Naalad, Naga City last week.
Prosecutor Napoleon Alburo recommended no bail for the accused.
At the Palace of Justice, the boy kept his head down with a rosary in hand. From there, he was brought to the Operation Second Chance facility at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).
In a joint affidavit, police officers who responded to the incident last September 9 said it was a certain Elmer Omambac who reported to them at 6:15 am that two bodies were found at their neighbor’s house.
Together with Naga City police chief PC/Insp. Timmar Alam, they proceeded to the area and found the two bodies drenched in blood.
Subsequent investigation found no sign of forced entry. Severina, the sister of the pregnant woman, also said some of her sister’s belongings were missing, including her mobile phone. It was also Severina who informed the police about the victim’s 16-year-old son who was evicted from the house.
On the same day, the police said they received information that the 16-year-old boy was seen with “fresh scratches” on his hand and leg.
The boy was then invited to the Naga City Police Station together with a guardian and representative from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). During questioning, the boy reportedly admitted the crime.
“We were surprised when the accused in front of the persons above-mentioned voluntarily admitted the crime he committed against his mother and his half sister reasoning out that he committed the gruesome crime out of rage against her mother and sister,” the cops’ affidavit reads.
Police said that before the killings, the boy went to the house of his co-suspect, Bryant Pansoy, 19, in Sindulan, Barangay Tinaan, Naga City. It was there, while drinking, that the two allegedly planned to rob the victims. Afterwards, they proceeded to the victims’ house on board a motorcycle.
When they arrived, they pretended to buy cigarettes. The woman victim had a sari-sari store. Just when his mother opened the door to hand over the cigarettes, the 16-year-old boy went inside the house and poked his mother and sister on the head with a homemade 357 revolver.
Not contended, he stabbed the two several times with a knife before taking the P600 cash and Nokia mobile phone and leaving the place.
Pansoy has availed of a preliminary investigation. He has six days to file his counter-affidavit to refute the allegations. – (FREEMAN)
