CEBU, Philippines - The new Mandaue City College has offered to accept students from the old MCC under Dr. Paulus Mariae Cañete to ensure that they will be allowed to take the board exams by the Professional Regulations Commission as soon as they graduate.
The Board of Trustees of the MCC under Dr. Susana Cabahug approved a resolution following a meeting with representatives of the Commission on Higher Education to accept transferees from Cañete’s MCC campus.
The decision was reached after the PRC has refused to allow the graduates from the school managed by Cañete to take any licensure examinations with them.
City administrator James Abadia said Mayor Jonas Cortes, who sits as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the MCC under Cabahug, is after of the welfare of the affected students.
To solve the problem, they have offered the students from the MCC Cañete campus to transfer to the school recognized by the city government to avoid problems with the PRC in the future.
A condition however is being set for those who would wish to transfer. Abadia said the transferee should submit transfer credentials and enroll in the curricular programs offered by the school, pay their tuitions and its miscellaneous fees.
If their credentials are not available ,transferees will be interviewed with regards to the course, year level and the subject that they have attended after which the transferees shall be made to submit an affidavit “ that they have taken such course and subjects” and then take the validating examination in every subject area.
They shall be admitted only into the school if they pass the exams.
Those who have already graduated the teacher education course from the school run by Cañete will have to show evidence of their completion of the degree program and should pass a validating examination before they could be certified as graduates of the new MCC.
Those who have acquired a Diploma in Professional Education (DPE) should submit their credentials and take the validating exams before they could be certified for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), if they fail they shall retake a one semester 18 unit-DPE program from the school.
Post graduate students will not be certified because the MCC under Cabahug is not in the position to make such certification for not having offered the course. – (FREEMAN)
