Two lose cash, jewelries to thief

CEBU, Philippines - A man who had to attend to his car after it runs out of battery power ended up losing thousands worth of jewelry pieces along in Barangay Carreta last Saturday evening.

Faustino Belasco, 42, of Cabancalan, Mandaue City lose P60,000 worth of silver jewelries to unidentified thief.

The victim said he was driving his car on S. Osmeña Street at 11:00 p.m. when it encountered battery trouble prompting him to check on the hood leaving the doors and the windows open.

The unidentified thief took advantage while Belasco was busy trying to fix the battery of his battery car. The thief took the plastic container where the jewelries were placed and carted it away without the victim’s noticing him.

Upon discovering that the items were already missing, the victim reported the incident to the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office hoping to recover it.

 Meanwhile, another car owner was victimized by unidentified car theft locally known as “car artist”.

Debbie Rojonan, 29, resident of Don Gil Garcia St. Ext., lost P3,000 cash to an unidentified car artist who preyed on her silver Honda Integra while being parked along Don Jose Avila St. in Barangay Capitol Site.

Rojonan said the unidentified thief broke the right side window of her car to steal her bag containing the money, cellphone charger, driver’s license and assorted cards.

The bag was later recovered by a trisikad driver, who claimed to have found it. Except for the P3,000 cash the other contents of the bag were returned to her. — (FREEMAN)
