Crame suspends Dumanjug police chief
CEBU, Philippines - Dumanjug police chief Rully Lauron, who is facing investigation over a hostage taking incident last Sunday, was suspended by the Camp Crame after he was found guilty of the administrative complaint for simple misconduct.
The one month suspension took effect yesterday after he officially received the special order dated August 17. Together with Lauron is PO2 Rhexter Armenion, warrant server of San Remigio police station.
Their suspension stemmed from the administrative complaint filed by Donnie Demicilio for trying to arrest him in February 2010 based on an invalid warrant.
Lauron and Armenion tried to arrest Demicilio using a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court in Bogo City for frustrated murder. However, it was found out that the warrant that they were trying to serve on Demicilio was invalid because the case has already been dismissed.
“Disorganized man gud pag-assume nako ug post, daghang pending nga warrant ang wala ma-serve,” Lauron explained.
According to him, upon his assumption in San Remigio he immediately ordered an inventory and classification of pending warrant of arrests according to barangays.
Lauron said what happened was they were not immediately informed about the dismissal of the case against Demicilio. He said it was only after they served the supposed warrant of arrest that they were shown copy of the dismissal of the case.
Lauron said they did not know that the case was already dismissed because the dismissal order from the court was not recorded by their former warrant server.
Lauron is also facing another investigation with the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch because of alleged operational lapses during a hostage taking incident inside his police station last Sunday.
Thaddeo Camacho went wild at the police station shortly after midnight last Sunday and held Lauron’s alleged live-in partner Helen Recuerdo hostage using the police official’s caliber .45 pistol.
Camacho was injured during the incident after he got shot by Lauron.
“Kining tanan apil man gyud ni sa pamulis, ako ning atubangon kay ako man sa’y mabati ug dili,” Lauron said. (FREEMAN)
