2 caught with marijuana leaves in Brgy Inayawan

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote -

CEBU, Philippines - Two people were caught delivering dried marijuana leaves by operatives of the Investigation and Detective and Management Branch (IDMB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City Monday afternoon.

Marcela Nable, 22, and Jessie Bonghanoy, 20, both of Sitio Sandayong, Barangay Magsaysay, Balamban were arrested with a kilo of marijuana leaves which they were supposed to deliver in Inayawan.

IDMB head Chief Insp. Bonifacio Garciano told The FREEMAN that a tip from residents led to the capture of Nable and Bonghanoy around 5 p.m. The IDMB has been monitoring the two for weeks.

Garciano said Nable and Bonghanoy would deliver marijuana every Monday to a certain “Rocky” in the area.

But during the police operation, “Rocky” noticed the lawmen’s presence and left Nable and Bonghanoy.

“Kining Rocky, mao ni ang hagbungan sa marijuana diha sa lugar. Mao pud ni siya ang mobaligya sa mga suki niya nga mga estudyante sa lugar,” Garciano said.

Nable told The FREEMAN that the marijuana leaves belongs to Bonghanoy’s father, Danny, who asked her to accompany his son. She also said it was her fourth time to deliver marijuana to Cebu City.

Nable said Rocky only communicates with them through text and that she texted Rocky prior to their arrival in Cebu City around 2 p.m.

“Mo-text ra g’yud na siya unya makigsabot nga magkita mi ma hapon,” Nable said.

A kilo of marijuana only costs P3,000 in Balamban, Nable said. They will sell it to Rocky for P5,000 and she will get P1,000 to P2, 000 as commission.

The two suspects are currently detained at CCPO detention cell while the seized marijuana leaves were sent to the crime laboratory for further examinations. – (FREEMAN)
