Farmer found dead in well

- Ryan Christopher J. Sorote -

CEBU, Philippines - A 53-year-old man was found dead floating inside an improvised water reservoir at the mountain Barangay Sirao yesterday morning.

William Ensores, 52, single, flower farmer of Sitio Tawagan-1, Barangay Sirao, Cebu City, was found dead by his cousin Nicolas Cubcuban at around 9:00 a.m. with an open wound near his stomach.

Cubcuban was walking near the water reservoir when he saw Ensores floating in prone position with his hands spread outward. The water turned red because of the blood coming out from the victim’s wound.

The said man-made-reservoir is described to be 6-meters in diameter and 6-feet deep.

Elisa Salvaña, younger sister of Ensores, told police investigations that she believes her brother was murdered.

“Duda ning iyang igsoon nga gipatay gyud siya,” said SPO4 Alex Dacua of the Homicide Section. Dacua said the victim was last seen by his relatives at 10:00 p.m. Friday.

According to the police, the victim’s family could not give any information to the police that might help find the culprit because the victim allegedly did not have enemies in their barangay.

“Ang problema lang sa biktima kay kun mahubog kuno ni siya kay mag sige og yaw-yaw,” Dacua said

The victim had stopped farming long time ago after he complained of stomach pains.

“Kun naa gyud foul play amo gyud nang palawman among imbestigasyon, apan posible sad nga kun wa ni siya gipatay nag hikog ni tungod sa iyang sakit sa tiyan,” Dacua said.

Investigators are only waiting for the postmortem examination on the victim to find out the cause of his death.  (FREEMAN)
