Parricide case filed vs nursing student
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office recommended no bail for the 25-year-old nursing student who admitted killing his mother inside their house at No. 95 M. Gochan Street, Mambaling.
Prosecutor Simaco Libata elevated the parricide case to the court yesterday after finding probable cause that Christian Lucky Dalangin Y. Tenchavez killed his mother, Rubirosa Tenchavez.
It was also yesterday when the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) got a commitment order issued by Judge Eric Menchavez of Regional Trial Court Branch 21 to transfer Dalangin from the stockade of NBI to the Cebu City jail.
Dalangin, in an interview with the media, said he regrets what he did.
“Siyempre nagbasul, natimingan lang napungot sad ko and I totally blacked out that time (I regret what I did. I was just too angry and I blacked out),” he said.
“But the damage has been done,” he added.
In Dalangin’s extra judicial confession, he said he killed his mother at around 1:00 a.m. on August 23, 2011 inside their house. He came home drunk after drinking with his friends at a nearby videoke place.
“I proceeded to the kitchen and prepared a noodle for snack and thereafter ate at the sala while watching a TV program,” he narrated.
His mother went down from her room and confronted him about some broken tiles and accused him of destroying her computer. He told her he did not do anything but his mother continued with her “nagging.”
So he went to the kitchen, got a knife and slit her throat twice.
He panicked after he committed the crime and saw his mother dead. He decided to ask the help of his friend, Carmelo Echavirria.
“I told him everything and I asked him to help me in transferring the body of my mother at the kitchen. At first he agreed but when he saw the lifeless body of my mother, he changed his mind and hurriedly left,” Dalangin said.
At around 6:00 a.m. Dalangin went out of their house and asked a neighbor named Randy to dig a hole inside their house’s stockroom for a septic tank.
Randy agreed and dug a hole about four feet deep.
Dalangin said he dragged his mother, buried her in the hole and took her jewelry.
He then pawned the bracelet in the amount of P26,496.
Dalangin said he is now admitting to the crime because of guilt and regret for the horrible crime he did to his mother.
It was last Friday when elements of the NBI went to the house of Dalangin and discovered the body inside the hole at stock room.
An NBI agent said that the mother had a stab wound at the right side of her face. Dalangin reportedly thought of buying gasoline and burning their house but changed his mind after someone tapped his shoulder saying don’t do it.
A wake for Rubirosa is being held at the St. Peter Funeral Homes along the New Imus Road.
Rubirosa’s two other sons who are working as nurses in Singapore and New Zealand will arrive today. Dalangin said his two brothers will visit him on Monday.
He added he wants to attend the burial of his mother if the court allows him. (FREEMAN)
